Youths arrested is the number of youths who were arrested who were aged 10-17. If the same youth was arrested more than once during a fiscal year, the youth is counted only once in this report.Research has shown that risks associated with juvenile arrests are cognitive deficits, low school involvement, living in poverty, or being runaway or homeless. Monitoring arrest rates can help increase public safety and reduce juvenile delinquency through effective prevention, intervention and treatment services that strengthen families and improve lives of troubled youth.
